Filtering capacitor selection

Posted by: itzbj on

I have attached my schematic.

I want to interchange filtering capacitor wiz. highlighted in the schematic.

i.e. C1(2.2 uf/100V)

C2(100 uf/100V) with each other for better placement on my actual board.

I have checked it practically but I’m unable to find out exact degradation in my power supply.

Kindly suggest me if I do so whether it will affect power supply’s performance?

Will wait for your reply.

Thank you.

The 100uF must be placed right before the Flyback converter, since  a lot of ac current flow through the cap. If 2uF cap is placed before the flyback transformer, the life of the cap will be reduced becasue of the thermal caused by the current ripple.

My inputy range is 16-66 V AC/DC.

As per PI Expert sofware bias winding capacitor is 1 uf \50V

Should i use capacitor of 1 uf \35 V.

Thank You.

It should be ok as long as the worst case  voltage across it is below 30V. Normally it is below 30V, but you need to test it.
