Doubt about encapsulation

Posted by: lgwhitacker on

Sorry my bad English.
We devenvolvendo some products based on TOP264VG - TOP271VG.
We bought a few pieces in MOUSER.COM to initial of the project.
Now we are ready with the products, we buyer a greater amount for the production of a pilot batch.
But we're in trouble:
The samples we buy in MOUSER.COM have 11 pins (missing pin 5), but the parts we buy now has 12 pins? Why is this?
We made our printed circuit boards considering the 11 pins.
What has changed? The pin 5 is not connected?
Thanks

Hi,

Would you please send me the exact part number of the parts with 11 pins and the parts with 12 pins? A photo of them will be more helpful to identify the your concen.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the photo. Where did you buy the part with 12 pins, from Mouser?

For TOP Switch V package from PI, we never did the package of 12pins, the correct package should be always 11pin. I also saw there is a difference of the metal pad shap on top of the parts between the 12pin and 11pin. So the parts with 12 pins is not the Top switch parts from PI. So what I will propose you is to check with the supplier who you bought the parts with 12 pins from, make sure they provide you the right parts.

Let me know if you have further information.

Thanks

5 parts were bought in MOUSER, being:

2 pieces with 11 pins (no terminal 5)

3 pieces with 12 pins (yes terminal 5)

200 pieces were bought in TECHNOHALL (BRAZIL)  being:

200 pieces with 12 pins.  (yes terminal 5)

Attachment photo in detail the component with 12 pins.

I do not know what to do

Hi,

I just checked with our product managers, the 12pin package was available from PI, and they are really old products. The package with 11 pins are the updated parts.

How many 12 pins parts that you received?  We can accept the return.

Hi Terry,

We received 200 pieces with 12 pins.

The only item that changes is the encapsulation? or had changes in the internal circuit the component?

Hi,

The only change from 12 pins to 11 pins is to remove the unconnected pin 5, no internal circuits change. For the 12 pins package, the pin 5 is unconnected, and it is removed to improve the creepage between high voltage pin 6 to adjacent pin. Functionally they are the same, so you could continue to use the 12 pins if you want, since the pin 5 is not connected anyway. If you want to return them, we will accept too.

Thanks
