current measurement

Posted by: bren on

Hello!
How can i measure the drain current (particularly the waveform too) using oscilloscope? I dont have current probes, i only got 1 high voltage probe here. I want to measure and also see the drain current waveform of my TNY280PN flyback converter. Thanks in advance.

I afraid a current probe is the only way to do it. DC current probes are expensive - if you're looking for a lower cost option try an AC current probe - I used one of these for many years and it works well for switching power supply current waveform measurement.

Take a look at: P6021 Current Probe from Tektronics

It's around $1300 USD vs $3000 USD for DC probe + amplifier

HI all
I planned to design SMPS using TNY280PN, My requirement is three different Isolated output 12Volt/ 1Amps 6volt /.5Amps and 15volt /.25Amps.

I need flyback transformer design tutorial

Hi satheesh,

Thank you for choosing Power Integrations.

PI expert is the perfect tool for you. It is a design tool developed by Power Integrations for designers to not just come up with a transformer design but could also come up with a design schematic and bill of materials for you.

I am attaching the link below for you convenience.
